Alberta Culture Days
Alberta Culture Days began in 2008 as Alberta Arts Day, a one-day event to recognize the value of Alberta's arts and cultural communities. There were 100 events held in 30 communities across the province, and a flagship celebration at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary. Since then, it has expanded into a vibrant, three-day, province wide celebration that has helped inspire the creation of Culture Days - a pan-Canadian movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.
Our region has participated in Alberta Culture Days since 2009 and Theatre; Just Because started participating in 2015. The festival is a showcase of our community’s vibrant arts, rich heritage and cultural diversity. Wood Buffalo Alberta Culture Days is a chance for our artists and performers to shine, celebrating our unique culture, heritage, and the place we call home.
This year, Alberta Culture Days has been extended beyond the traditional weekend to a 4-week interactive, immersive arts and culture experience taking place from September 1 to 30. Stay tuned to find out what TJB is organizing for the 2020 Culture Days in Wood Buffalo!
